Zwartbles Bluefaced Leicester Blend (50:50%) – this yarn blend brings out the best attributes of the two wools. It has plump definition and a beautiful deep colour from the Zwartbles and a soft, smooth handle from the BFL, which also brings a lovely sheen and drape.Buy now
A beautifully soft, silky and drapey yarn from a blend of 70% Bluefaced Leicester and 30% Suri Alpaca. The blend uses several undyed shades giving a heathery depth to the silver grey colour. New for 2018 is a natural white version of this lovely yarn – which takes natural dyes beautifully.
Our BFL Suri Blend is particularly suited to drapey shawls and light-weight cardigans.
Our special Gotland DK (with a hint of Shetland) – in natural Cream, Silver, Grey and Charcoal. This is a beautiful yarn – soft, characterful and with a slight sheen…..unlike most Gotland due to some Shetland genes in the flock. These minis skein sets are perfect for all sorts of knits – the Shivelight Cowl, hats, mitts or as part of a larger project.
Mini skein sets include include 4 x approx 30g skeins, one of each natural undyed shade.Buy now
A printed copy of the Shivelight hat pattern.
The Shivelight uses 4 x 30g skeins of Gotland DK in four natural undyed shades (Cream, Silver, Grey and Charcoal). It is a striking colour-work cowl capturing ‘lances of sunlight piercing the woodland canopy and the shadows cast on the woodland floor’ (quote from the beautiful poem by Gerard Manley Hopkins).
Shivelight could also be knit in one of the Coulmore DK Naturally Dyed Mini Skein sets.Buy now
Hannah describes herself as ‘a countryside artist based in the Scottish Borders…… Her work captures a moment in time and conveys the sense of stillness and peace she feels when she is in the countryside’. She certainly captures a countryside that I recognise and feel at home in.Buy now
In Rebecca’s words she creates ‘100% natural soap and skincare, Inspired by nature, Handcrafted in Scotland’. One of the things I love is that some of Bec’s work overlaps with mine – for instance the orange colouring in the ‘Sweet Orange with Cedarwood & Clary Sage Soap’ comes from annatto seeds – which I also use in natural dyeing to create a similar orange shade!Buy now
