Somewhat late here’s my Liberty Love Quilt from Love Patchwork and Quilting Magazine Issue 37. Seeing a copy of the magazine for the first time was even more exciting than usual as my quilt was on the front cover! Now that was a shock (of a very good kind)!
I completely underestimated how long it would take me to make the quilt………the improvised style (every piece of fabric is cut freehand to make up each block) of the quilt, and the fact that it is very big (at around 70 by 90″), made it a time-consuming make. It isn’t very tricky, it just takes time and some perseverance.
I had a lot of fun using Liberty Tana Lawns as the focal fabrics with a whole mix of others to coordinate. There’s shot cotton, quilting cotton, linen and lightweight canvas in there.
I love to think that there might be some Liberty Love inspired quilts being made – hopefully it’ll spark off some ideas and generate lots of happy quilt making!
